CEO Magazine Executive of the Year Awards - finalists Tony Overstead and Justin Rooney

Now in its 13th year, the CEO Magazine Executive of the Year Awards continue to raise the bar for recognising business excellence across multiple industries and disciplines.

This year our inspiring leaders, Tony Overstead and Justin Rooney, were finalists in the Manufacturing division of the awards, an endorsement of their exemplary achievements.

“This acknowledgement really spotlights and validates the innovative research, raw talent and incredible work ethic that we have manifested in our amazing group of people at Flame Security International with the support of our financial sponsors.

“Any new business venture on its individual start-up odyssey will know how tough it can be, how harsh failure is, and how much resilience really means. Recognition is hard won, and conversion is even harder, with unchallenged incumbents and technology to dislodge. Our team describes winning over a customer as being like hand-to-hand combat!" Tony Overstead, CEO and Co-Founder

“We are passionate about delivering home-grown best-of-breed technology and products that are highly relevant and exportable to multiple regions. These moments of recognition reward that type of business ‘grit’ necessary to convert the innovation pathway of pure R&D into practical applications and commercial success.” Justin Rooney, Managing Director and Co-Founder.

More about Flame Security International and FIRECOAT

Flame Security International launched FIRECOAT in late 2023. FIRECOAT offers homeowners unprecedented protection against bushfires, urban and structural fires while being easily accessible for DIY enthusiasts.

FIRECOAT Exterior has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first paint to receive the stringent Bushfire Attack Level 40 rating (BAL-40). This certification proves that the paint can withstand extreme fire conditions, including radiant heat up to 40 kW/m² and intense ember attacks. For homeowners in bushfire-prone areas, this translates to significantly enhanced property protection.

When exposed to flame or radiant heat, FIRECOAT Exterior and Interior paints form a protective char layer that shields the underlying surface and stops flames spreading. This intumescent property is the result of years of research and development in partnership with the University of New South Wales.
